Make It Your Business for a Strong and Healthy Oklahoma
PHIO was selected by Oklahoma’s Governor, Brad Henry, to apply for the National Governors Association’s Healthy States Grant. The successful application resulted in the development of the Make It Your Business for a Strong and Healthy Oklahoma (MIYB) training guide. Based on the original Make It Your Business training guide developed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health Tobacco Use Prevention Service, the new MIYB training guide added sections on nutrition and physical activity. Now businesses have the tools they need to successfully implement worksite policies aimed at helping employes to eat better, move more, and be tobacco free. By implementing these worksite policies, Oklahoma businesses also will be able to meet many of the criteria to become an Oklahoma Certified Healthy Business.
